JANUARY - FEBRUARY 2008 News Letter

EDITOR: Duane Craig

  • Our next big event is our spring Swap Meet. March 28th and 29th. We will eat out on march 13th before our meetings.

  • Well it is the beginning of a brand new year are you ready for it? This may be the biggest year of our existence. The officers for 2008 are President Eric Silver, V P Paul Villotti, Treasurer Richard Griffith and Secretary Duane Craig. Board Members are Joseph Villotti, Chris Boling Tim Hummel, Bill Thurman, Todd Hall, Ed Arndt, Bill Parrish and Fred Lewis. If you need a Chairman’s list let me know and I will have them for you at the meeting or I can email you a list.

We had a good Hot Chocolate Night Santa’s lap was about worn slick.

Are your dues paid up? I have received dues from some, but some are not current.
Note: the year dates on the mailing label if it doesn’t say 2008 you are behind.

  • November Board Meeting: The biggest news from the meeting was the election of officers for the coming year. Preliminary report on the renewal of the insurance of the show grounds was reviewed.

  • December Board Meeting: The show bills are at the printers and should be delivered by the end of the year.
There were suggestions for repairing the swinging bridge before the swap meet, Jacob Villotti will saw up the lumber to replace the floorboards.
It was moved to let the women’s auxiliary install the remaining lamppost along Main Street.
Eric Silver has been cutting brush along the creek and wants to work on the east fence.
The Machinery that is along the fence will be moved to a central area for evaluations as to what
we want keep and what needs to be removed.

  • January Board Meeting: The 2008 show bills are here and do they look great, the best yet. David Groom has been very helpful to the club in getting these bills set up and printed at a very nominal cost to the club. If you know David give him a big thanks as the Board of Directors do.
The Future Business Leaders of Adrian will be ask to man the gates this year.
There are many things, which need to be taken care of before the March swap meet and the show in June.
I received a phone call from a Lathrop Club member telling me that we have scheduled our shows on the same weekend. We apologize to those folks but it is too late to do anything about it now.

  • Meet our new President: Eric Silver was born and raised on a small farm seven miles southeast of Drexel. Graduated from Adrian High School in 1991. He went to work for G R Milner Ford and also went to college. In 93 he earned his associate degree. He married Julie in 94 and moved seven miles west of Adrian and now has two daughters Melanie and Megan. He has always enjoyed farming and raising cattle. His favorite and only hobby is collecting and restoring tractors (Prairie Gold) and machinery, and he always enjoys spending time with his girls. He has spent a lot of time working at the show grounds this winter.

  • Duane’s Editorial: Well it; is time for me to get back to work, I have sat around so much this winter that I may need some prodding to get me going. There are a lot of things that need to be done around the show grounds in preparation for a new season. We are small in number when it comes to those of our membership that are available to come and spend time on workdays. We all need to see if we can be available to get the grounds ready for the summer. There are things to be moved, brush to be cut, Christmas lights to be taken down, and you name it there is an opportunity for everyone to be involved.

  • Auxiliary’s Notes: Lillian said that the women want to have a catered meal for our March 13th meeting. I think they deserve the night off. We will meet at the Old Highway 71 Cafe in Adrian for our meal at 6:00 PM. After our meal we will have our respective meetings at the show grounds. Reservations are needed and must be in by February 27, the cost will be around $8.00 a person. Reservations are necessary; men bring your wives and give them a night out. For reservations call Lillian Hill 816 297 2776, Janice Highley 660 679 4856 or Betty Tenholder 816 297 2364. The ladies will meet on Feb. 14.
