WMAT&MA NEWS
APRIL & MAY 2005 News Letter
- DONATIONS The family of Perry Rexroad presented us with $800.00 that had been given
at Perry’s funeral. We received a check from Jay and Sharon Dalgetty of Kingwood Tx in the amount
of $100.00 in memory of Perry. Kit Cart Orchard gave us an antique apple measure device.
George Reed gave us a concrete horn to be used by the Sexson shelter house.
- FLEA MARKET Due to health reasons, Red and Sandy Lear will not be able to
Chair this committee. Mathew Dalzel has stepped up to fill that vacancy. Thanks to Red
and Sandy for all their hard work at this job the past years. Good job.
We also recognize that Mathew has become a life member
- BITS AND PIECES Steve Hanson picked up the old cabin that was in the barn for the Bates County Museum.
The board decided to put the memorial money from the Perry Rexroad funeral into the museum addition fund.
Visitors at the last meeting included Dennis Vohs and son. We welcome a new member as
Dennis joined the club after the meeting.
- VIDDY IS WELL AGAIN After an extended stay in the Essenpries and Reitz
repair hospital, Viddy is ready for the 2005 mowing season and many thanks to those
men for getting Viddy ready to go.
- OATES PLANTED The Tenholders volunteered to sow oates for our threshing demonstration.
- SWAP MEET Wow! This was a good one for sure. We had 72 venders and lots of buyers.
The girls had plenty of great food to eat too. Thanks to all that made it work. I want to mention
Cliff and his crew for handling to auction so well. It was a great success as we netted $1098.00
from the sale! Also Don Hill and Duane Craig with myself made the rounds Friday and then Saturday
to collect the vender’s fees. A special thanks to Delbert Watts and Tim Hummel for providing the
loader tractors to handle the heavy stuff that needed moved.
- DUES STUFF Duane says we have 226 members enrolled in WMAT MA of which 55 are not
paid for 2005. If you are among the 55, please send $25.00 to Duane Craig, 1001 Country Club
Drive, Butler, Mo 64730. Any unpaid members will not receive the tickets for the 2005 show in
July and will be dropped from the rolls at that time.
- YOUTH AG DAY At the April 2nd meeting we detailed AG day that will be
held Monday, April 25th. There should be 70 to 80 young people from Adrian, Archie,
Butler and Miami Schools attend. We can use all the help we can get. We will need tour
guilds that morning to lead groups of 10 or so around the grounds. After lunch we will let
them each go to whatever stations they are interested in and learn.
This will be a lot like KIDS DAY we have each year for area 4th graders except we will
be entertaining much older young people. We would like to have all the stations operating like we do during kids day.
The club will furnish the hot dogs and chips for the kids and our member workers.
The Villotti family has volunteered to cook and serve the lunch. Duane will set up
a table at lunch time in the kitchen and take names of those interested in a free
membership, good until their 18th birthday.
We are having a workday Saturday the 23rd. That is the Saturday just before AG day,
starting at 9:00 am. I think we will work on the new fence and do final preparations for AG day.
Hopefully the saw mills will be running Monday as I’m sure at least a few of these young folks
will like that, plus we need boards cut for Hanson’ crossing swinging bridge. It is in need of repairs.
Workers for AG day should try to come to the Village around 7am on the 25th so we can get organized.
See You Saturday,
Don Arndt
