SEPTEMBER 2005 News Letter

EDITOR: Duane Craig
  • There will be no, I, repeat no tractor pull on Sept. 17.

  • The indoor picnic was great, lots of good food and the most important was the fellowship. Gib Thurman blessed us with his Banjo picking, Bill you have taught him well. There was a good attendance, those who weren’t there missed a very good time the food was great, as usual.

  • Don and Sue Arndt, have been to Philadelphia, PA for a reunion of his Army outfit. Don said it was a great time for all those old folks to get together. They toured the city and had a great time of fellowshipping. I know that Don kept them entertained. We are glad you are back safely. See Click Here for more info on the reunion.

  • There is a new lock on the big gas barrel at the Village. The gate key no longer unlocks it, Don will try to get keys to those who need it, “the engine guys and mower folk.” In the mean time contact Don at 816 898 2359 or R D at 816 297 2615 and they will fix you up.

  • Fred Lewis is in need of some lumber for the museum, 2” x 8” x16’ and 2” x 4” x 8’ if you have some to spare let him know.

  • There was a Vivitar 35mm left in the office during the show.

  • Donations: Jim Shubert MFA oil donated Diesel fuel for tram tractors during the show.
Adrian Restoration Branch Church gave us $250.00 for the use of the park for a retreat, they also gave the ladies $300.00 for the use of the kitchen.
Osage Valley Electric gave us $150.00 for the use of our trams.

  • Kid’s day is the next big show at the park, we need everyone to come and help us it is Oct 4, 2005. Workers need to be at the park at 8:00 AM as the kids will start arriving at 9:00 AM. Please come and help, if you have a craft or a piece of equipment to demonstrate we need all the stations we can set up. These are fourth graders and they will be eager to hear what you have to tell them. In the past we have had the Log Cabin, Museum, Rumely, Steam Engine, Big Engines, Saw Mills, Rock Crusher, Cider Mill, Rail Road, Caboose, Wood Carving, Ax sharpening, and Dons Mill. We need tram tractors and drivers. The rewards are great as you plant the seeds in these young minds, who knows how many future club members and workers we will entertain this year.

  • Club members: George and Betty Reed, Shawn and Cara Hornbeck, Vic Jadlot and Duane Craig exhibited tractors at the Tractor Supply Show at Belton on September 3. It was a small show 9 or 10 tractors but we were well received, and got to visit with several person who showed interest in our tractors. It was nice just to sit there with your equipment and share with those who would stop by.
Charles and Gloria Eagleburger and several members of the Two Cylinder Club, took tractors to the State Fair opening day parade.

  • Steve Doody will be in charge of Hot Chocolate night, he did such a good job last year he won reelection to that post this year. It seems like it is a long time off but before you know it, it will be time to put up Christmas lights. Remember Kids day Oct 4. I will see you there, 8:00 AM. Duane Craig 660 679 4703
